Late Veena Verma

1st September 1941 - 6th February 2024

Veena Verma was born in 1941 in Alwar Rajasthan. Her grandfather was the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Alwar. Veena Verma married Shrikant Verma in January 1967. Veena Verma entered politics after the death of her husband in 1986.

She was elected to the Indian Parliament (Rajya Sabha) in 1986 as a member of the Congress party. Verma served as a Member of Parliament for three terms. Veena Verma was a strong advocate for women's rights and empowerment. She also worked on issues such as education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.

Beyond her political achievements, Veena Verma was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished her family above all else, and her warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family.

The family of Veena Verma mourned her passing on February 6th, 2024, after she courageously battled age-related multiple illnesses. She passed away at Max Hospital, Saket, New Delhi, surrounded by loved ones. Cremation of Veena was held on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, in the second half of the day, relatives and friends attended the last rites.
